| Don't Decide This For
ME!
WITH THE COMMAND EDITORIAL by Chief Billy Goldfeder Here' s one that will make you feel all "warm and fuzzy" all over. Let's take a trip into the brainless mind of one Red Cross Bureaucrat ...."Hmmmm....let's see...we are hurting for funds (so are those United Way way people by the way, humph!) and here comes the attack of the WTC. Well, we ARE the RED CROSS, so people, unsuspecting people, will donate because THEY KNOW we will help the WTC murder victims families. So we start soliciting for and receiving money....and lots of it. Well, we have ALL THIS MONEY...and we have so many other very important projects that just never seem to get the public support that WE NEED.... Well, people who donate to us REALLY DO want to help everyone-we just KNOW THAT...after all, we ARE the Red Cross...so, let's see....let's start counting: 2 for them and 1 for "this" needy group, and 2 for them and 1 for this "OTHER" needy group. ...and then, of course, we DO have a VERY high overhead cost in running the RED CROSS, after all-GOOD people won't work HERE if we don't pay them a respectful salary...so, let's off-set this cost with THAT cost and funding." ...so 2 for "them"...and one more for us....and then 2 for "my special, favorite needy group and project"...THERE. No everyone is all set and no one will be the wiser....after all, we ARE the RED CROSS and we know what is best. END OF TRIP. AM I NUTS?! Am I hearing and reading
this below item correctly?!?! What a
DON'T DECIDE FOR ME! DON'T TELL ME WHAT MY "INTENT" IS!!!! I DON'T WANT TO HELP "EVERYONE" ELSE! Now, before you go nuts on me for trashing the Red Cross...I DO appreciate what the Red Cross does. For almost 30 years I have been on scenes where they do victim relocation, serve refreshments and offer tons of great, honest support. They do great work is many, many areas...no question. But this isn't about those people...who, are usually unpaid volunteers. This is about some "suits" sitting
is some fancy office deciding what to do
This is the kind of BS that makes us reiterate to anyone asking...for firefighter families- donate ONLY to the Uniformed Firefighter‘s Association-204 East 23rd Street-New York, New York 10010-C/O: UFA Widows' and Children's Fund. Make your checks payable to the UFA
Widows' and Children's Fund. The only other "honest" option is to donate
to any of the FDNY "Company" Specific funds that have been created. Personally,
I wouldn't trust anyone else. And as far as non-FDNY victims, I don't know
who can be trusted.
