Fire in Powhatan Co.
VA
On Saturday morning April 17th, Powhatan
County ( VA) Engines 2, 1, Amelia Engine 4, Tankers 2, 1 and Amelia
Tanker 4, and Rescue 2 responded to a house fire on Walkers Ridge Terrace.
Engine 1 arrived and all hands went to
work on a two story house with the front of the house well involved in
fire, several rooms on fire on both floors and fire coming through the
roof. The fire seemed to start in the front of the house and strong
winds blew the fire quickly throughout the house and embers from the house
fire set several small brush fires in the field behind the house.
Firefighters advanced into the garage and removed a riding lawn mower,
weed eater and several other items.

An additional engine company and tanker company
was requested from Co. 4 to assist with water supply operations and Brush
2 to handle the brush fires. The dry hydrant on Schroeder Road was
used to fill tankers to shuttle water to the fire. The house was
a total loss and Red Cross was notified to assist the family. The
fire seems to be accidental and is being investigated by the Virginia State
Police Fire investigations Division. |
