Just after 0400 hours, Calvert County units from Prince Frederick, Huntingtown, and Benedict were alerted for a house fire. Prince Frederick Engine 2-1,Tower 2, Squad 2, and Chief 2(Ficke) responded to the 100 block of Calvert Towne Road and arrived with fire showing on side 3. Chief 2 established command while the Engine crew advanced an attack line, the Tower crew started the primary search, and the Squad crew started ventilating.
Captain 2 (Della-Camera) took interior operations as Huntingtown Engine 6-2 arrived and placed a second line into service to assist with fire suppression.

Benedict Engine 83-2 arrived and established a second water source and pulled a back line. Saint Leonard Engine 7-2 was added to perform RIT duties. The Engine crews made an aggresive attack on the first and second floors only to find extension to the attic area.

Twenty minutes into the incident, the roof on side 4 began to collapse. A second alarm was called for bringing Dunkirk Engine 5-2, North Beach Engine 1-2, Hughesville Engine 81-2 and Huntingtown Squad 6 to the scene.

Firefighters were evacuated from the residence and began a defensive attack. The ladder pipe from the Tower was placed into service to knock the rest of the fire down. Units operated for approximately four hours to contain the fire and perform major overhaul. Solomons Engine 3-1 filled in at Prince Frederick station 2 and Engine 42-1 filled in at Huntingtown Station 6.
