Three
jump to escape DC fire
By Alan Etter
Dispatched approximately 10:30 AM, this
house fire caused extensive damage and produced three civilian injuries.
Engines 27 & 18 arrived with Trucks
13 & 7 in the front to find heavy fire issuing from sides A & D
on the first floor. Firefighters also found that three people had
jumped from second floor windows. Medics treated a 68-year-old man
and two teenagers, ages 17 and 15, on the scene. The man suffered
a broken ankle while the teens suffered cuts and scrapes. They were
transported to local hospitals for further treatement. There was
a fourth person in the home, but she was able to escape the house unharmed.
Investigators have determined the fire
to be incendiary in nature. They have determined the fire was set
using an open flame and an ignitable liquid. No suspects have been
identified.
