House
fire in Bowie

At 1130 hours a
house fire was dispatched to the 5400 block of Lakeford Lane in Bowie.
Which brought E-39,43 (Bowie) E-48 (Lanham) T-19 (Bowie), TW-18 (Glendale).
Chief 19A (Havens)
was in the area and arrived on the scene requested a Fire Task Force which
brought E-33 (Kentland), E-28 (Lanham), E-30 (Landover) and T-33 (Kentland).
This large two-story house was well involved on arrival.
Engine 391 took a
position on side “Alpha”, Engine 431 reverse laid from Engine 391 to a
hydrant a few houses away. Truck 19 and Tower 18 were both on side “Alpha”. |

Engine 481 laid
dual lines, which were supplied by Engine 332. The fire involved the entire
2nd floor and attic. The fire also dropped down to the first floor.
On arrival command direct the crew from Engine 332 to supply Engine 481’s
dual lines and assist with the attack group on the 2nd floor.
Truck 33 arrived
and was directed to assist with operations on the second floor, which took
lots of work. Several companies operated together on the 2nd floor to extinguish
the fire. Several ladders were placed by Engine 332 to the house on sides
Alpha, Charlie and Delta. Volunteer Chief 19A (Havens) had Command, Volunteer
Chief 19B (Williams) had Operations, Volunteer Chief 28 (Alter) had Division
2 and Volunteer Chief 48A (Ray) had Charlie Division. |
