| On Sunday, Wilmington Fire Department
Units were dispatched at 0502 hours for a building fire at 242 Lombard
Street, Wilmingto, DE.
Upon his arrival Battalion Chief Huelsenbeck
and the first due companies found heavy fire and smoke emitting from the
first floor front.
The fire was knocked down and contained
in approximately fifty (50) minutes. The fire building is described as
a two story brick with a store on the 1st floor and apartments on the 2nd
floor. The building suffered fire and smoke damage to the store, with smoke
and fire extension to the second floor and roof area.
Twenty-seven (27) Wilmington firefighters,
three (3) engine companies, one (1) ladder company, rescue company and
the RIT team brought the fire under control at 0555 hours.
There were no injuries to civilians or
firefighters.
The Wilmington Fire Department Fire Marshall’s
Office is investigating the fire. |
