On 09/14/04 at 1157 hours, Bradford County
EOC alerted Department 24 (Athens Township FD) along with Greater Valley
EMS & Rescue for a reported multiple vehicle accident on Route 220
just south of McAfee Rd. initially with unknown injuries or entrapment.
Second report from Bradford County advised of 3 vehicles one being a tractor
trailer.
Upon arrival of
Athens 3 (S. Roupp, Athens Borough FD Assistant Chief) the report was,
3 vehicles involved, 1 being a flat bed tow truck, One tractor trailer
leaking large amounts of diesel fuel and 1 Dodge Caravan on fire with one
patient ejected. Upon arrival of Valley-2 (T.Pruitt, Greater Valley
Assistant Chief) incoming EMS and Res7cue units were advised of "No entrapment,"
1 Class "5" DOA, 1 Class "2" to transport and 3 refusals.
Res7cue was requested to continue in to
possibly use air bags to slow the leak of the saddle tanks of the tractor
trailer holding approximately 120 gallons of diesel fuel. Route 220
was shut down for approximately 6 hours for clean up and police reconstruction.
1 patient was transported to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre with minor
injuries. |
