        submitted by William Crumpacker

The Bedford Volunteer Fire Department is located in Bedford, VA which is at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains in central Virginia near Roanoke, VA.  The department provides fire protection to a industrial/rural/suburban type setting with 10,000 people living and working in our first due territory.

It took delivery of this Heavy Rescue truck in January of 2000 from M & W Fire Apparatus in Vinton, VA.

This picture was taken in front of the D-Day Memorial in Bedford, VA. Bedford was chosen as the site of the D-Day Memorial because it suffered the largest "per capita" loss of all enlisted men that were involved in the storming of the beach at Normandy.  Bedford lost 13 men that dayalone.
