Four people were hurt when
an SUV and fire engine collided Sunday afternoon on North 6th Street in
Susquehanna Twp. Three firefighters aboard Rescue
Fire Company's Engine 37-1 were transported to the hospital after the
crash at the intersection of North Sixth Street and Lucknow Avenue.
Reports claim the rig's lights and siren were on at the time the rig overturned.

engine’s sirens and lights were on when the tanker hit the vehicle.
No one was injured in the crash, which remains under investigation, but

with only minor neck and back strains. "They were very lucky," Belleview-McVille

A Chicago firefighter from
Truck 51 was killed this morning while responding to a call. The apparatus
was struck by a driver-only school bus, and the rig rolled over. Another
FF remains critical and the other 2 are stable. Killed was Chicago Fire
Department 20 year veteran, 44-year-old FF William Grant. Witnesses claim
the apparatus was westbound on 59th Street with its lights and sirens on. |

In Prince Georges County,
MD, Rescue Squad 47 landed on its side after being struck by a tractor
trailer. A tractor trailer that apparently failed to slow down for a fire
truck that was headed to an accident struck the fire truck with such force
that it was knocked on its side and forced the overnight closure of the
Capital Beltway. |

Two Carroll County
firefighters were injured on Wednesday morning in an accident involving
a fire tanker truck and a car just outside of Carrollton. The 19-year-old
and a 20-year-old, were injured when they were on their way to a training
exercise. The tanker struck a car and then dove into a ditch. The firefighters
were rescued by their colleagues and taken to nearby hospitals and are
expected to recover. |

$385000, Canadian-built state-of-the-art fire boat sank, still tied up
at a dock and without ever being put to use in Newport News, VA. The boat
- showcased at the Virginia Fire Chiefs' conference in Virginia Beach last
month but not yet in use - was seen afloat at 6 a.m. by marina security.
Shortly before 8 a.m., it was spotted with its back end submerged and the
front end protruding from the water. |
